Certifications & Qualifications
Wisconsin does not require licensure or certification of court reporters. We believe our clients deserve better. There is a level of accomplishment recognized at the national level for court reporting services. The National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) certifications have set the standard for excellence since 1935. These certifications attest to a level of skill and competence that is achieved only through hard work, persistence, and consistent performance.
At Willette Court Reporting, our court reporters have achieved these designations. Our reporters are either Registered Professional Reporters (225 WPM Q&A), Registered Merit Reporters (260 WPM Q&A), or Registered Diplomate Reporters (written exam requiring extensive breadth of knowledge of the profession), as certified by the National Court Reporters Association.
The certification program has three tiers of achievement and proudly claims nearly 7,500 Registered Professional Reporters (RPRs); more than 2,000 court reporters have earned the next level of certification, the Registered Merit Reporter (RMR); and more than 450 have become Registered Diplomate Reporters (RDRs). Once earned, in order to maintain these certifications, a reporter is required to earn a minimum of 3.0 CEUs every three years.
Continuing education is essential to a court reporter’s career and their ability to continue to provide the cutting-edge technology and other value-added services that we at Willette Court Reporting, LLC, strive to deliver to our clients.
The highest designation, the RDR, is the epitome of excellence in our field, with only 3% of those eligible having reached that level.
Christine J. Willette, RDR, CRR, CRC, owner of Willette Court Reporting, LLC, is proud to have accomplished this designation.
Additionally, in today’s court reporting marketplace, the Certified Realtime Reporter (CRR) demonstrates specialized skill in delivering instantaneous voice-to-text transcription either onsite or remotely via secure Internet access. Willette Court Reporting is proud that a number of our court reporters have earned the Certified Realtime Reporter certification.
Providing services to clients who are deaf and/or hard-of-hearing also requires special knowledge, skill, and expertise. The certification that ensures the best service is the CRC, Certified Realtime Captioner.
